The Homecoming was my first scenery painting. It depicts an old farmhouse with a snow-covered road leading to it. I called it my “once upon a time” picture, as I would have liked to have been raised there. It was popular because I think the “over the river and through the woods” fantasy appeals to people's comfort side.
A senator from Montana had it hanging over his desk in Washington, D.C. It was his home reminder, he called it.
The road leading to the front door also continues in the picture. It is symbolic of the promises of the future and shows where life can lead us.
