Nature's Contrast was a new avenue for me. It was actually done for my parents as a gift. They were well aware of the type of artwork subjects I did, so I wanted to do something unique. I love quaking ash trees, and as people will observe, I put them into many of my art pieces. I wanted to contrast the hard rock background with the gentleness and softness of the leaves. It was one of my most challenging pieces. When I studied Watercolor, one of my assignments was to paint a steel wrench sticking out of a brown paper bag. Thus, hard steel in contrast to soft paper. I applied that lesson in this piece.
